Progress:

Previously in Blog post #6, I decided to advance forward in my guitar learning experience. The YouTube lesson focused on playing the major scale in one position. Reflecting on my flaws in my previous attempt, I decided to perform another trial of playing the major scale in one position.

Trial #1:

Trial #2:

In my first trial, I was only able to play the major scale ascending. such a simple exercise turned into a complex and confusing task. My fingers tripped onto the wrong notes, i was constantly hesitating on where to place my fingers next. Overall, It was a mess. my finger coordination was also visibly awkward and uncomfortable. The second trial however, ended up with better results.

Reflection:

comparing my results from trial #2 to Trial #1, I saw a significant change. in trial #1, i played a variety of wrong notes and was barely able to play the major scale ascending. In trial #2 however, I was able to play the major scale ascending and descending with more ease. The number of wrong notes decreased and my transitions along the fret were also a little more polished than my previous instances playing the guitar. Performing another trial on the same exercise allowed me to monitor my mistakes and bad habits. What i also noticed from this trial was that although i was more comfortable moving along the fret, the idea of upstrokes and down strokes completely slipped away from my train of thought. yes i did decrease the amount of my mistakes, however i forgot about one of my bad habits of only stroking one way. maintaining upstrokes and down strokes while playing was one of my goals since the beginning of my guitar playing journey, and this practice of it completely slipped from my mind. My methods of practicing are slacking, but with confidence and determination, i will be able to gradually achieve all the goals i set or myself.
