Progress:
Previously, I applied my basic knowledge of the major scale to playing the song Happy Birthday. Since this song is simple, it was relatively easy to play. throughout this first trial, my weakness in flexibility were greatly emphasized. I was also so focused on playing the right notes that i forgot to alternate between upstrokes and down strokes. with these weak points in mind, i decided to have another trial of playing this song to see how much i have improved. Rather than writing in the notes like what i did for my second trial of amazing Grace, I felt comfortable enough leaving the tab music as is.

Reflection:
in this second trial of playing happy birthday, i didn't write in the notes like i did for my second trial of amazing grace. even without the notes written in, i was still comfortable reading the tab music. during the first trial, i had trouble transitioning between the 4th and 7th fret. however in the second trial, i was able to transition between notes more comfortably and smoothly. Since it was easier for me to read the tab music and transition between notes, i was able to focus on using upstrokes and down strokes. even though the strokes were not consistent, i still consider this as progress since i'm becoming more comfortable with playing guitar. my flexibility has also improved and my fingers don't feel as uncomfortable as before. now that i'm making progress in transitions and reading tab music, i can start focusing on tone quality of the notes and intonation!!
